A woody-rooty aromachemical with a distinct vetiver and iris-root character, showing dry earthiness with a soft green-spicy edge. Reminiscent of orris and vetiver combined, with a slightly camphoraceous nuance on the opening. Adds naturalistic depth to woody and chypre accords.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Pale yellowish or almost colorless oily liquid.

Solubility

Practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Powerful, warm-herbaceous odor, sweeter, but also sharper than Carvone, but with some resemblance to that ketone.

Uses in perfumery

If it were made available at very low cost, it could undoubtedly find use in everyday perfumery.

Production

1) by isolation from Eucalyptus globulus oil (Spanish). 2) it has also been prepared synthetically.
