Powerful and relatively diffusive, fruity-ethereal, apple-like and also pineapple-like odor of poor tenacity.

Flavor

Sweet-fruity, ethereal, apple-and-wine-like taste in concentrations below 50 ppm.

Uses in perfumery

This ester finds very little use in perfumes, but it is used occasionally in flavor compositions, mainly those of apple-like, fruity-wine-like and fruit-complex type.

Its flavor effect is not quite as pineapple-like as that of the iso-Propylvalerate.

Production

Produced by azeotropic esterification of n-Propanol with n-Valeric acid.
