The title material is one of many Pyranyl-ethers developed in search of new and interesting series of perfume materials. The green and woody materials are not among the most needed or versatile, but this ether has a record of good performance, in many heavy floral bases, including Jasmin, Tuberose, Gardenia, Narcisse, etc. It performs well with Oakmoss and Galbanum in Chypre-types, and with Vetiver and Methylionones, Amylsalicylate, etc.
Produced from 2,3-Dihydro-gamma-pyran and para-Cresol under conditions of acid hydrolysis.
