Rosacetol butyrate — a soft, green-floral aromachemical with a lush rosy-fruity character reminiscent of geranium leaf and unripe pear. It bridges floral and fruity accords with a slightly waxy, natural feel and a mild tropical nuance on dry-down.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Colorless, slightly viscous liquid.

Solubility

Practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.

Odor

Very faint, sweet, green-balsamic, warm and very tenacious odor.

Uses in perfumery

This ester is more of a curiosity than it is an important perfume material. It is very rarely offered commercially, and occasional samples have not aroused much interest among the perfumers. It lacks character, and its odor value is very limited. It is more expensive than the Acetate, and does not seem to offer better fixation.

Production

Produced from the carbinol with n-Butyric anhydride.
