A bright, tart citrus top note distilled from the leaves and twigs of the cedrat (citron) tree. Sharper and greener than lemon petitgrain, with a crisp lemon-peel zestiness backed by a slightly bitter, herbaceous woody undertone. Fades cleanly, leaving a faint dry green facet.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

The oil is a greenish-yellow to olive-yellow or pale yellow mobile liquid.

Odor

The oil has a sweet and fresh, floral-woody, leafy 'petitgrain'-type of odor, somewhat reminiscent of lemon-petitgrain oil, however, not nearly as powerful as that oil.

Uses in perfumery

Cedrat Petitgrain Oil has been recommended for use in various perfume types ever since the name of the oil appeared in various published perfume formulas.

Production

The essential oil is occasionally steam distilled in some of the French islands in the south Pacific.
