Bright, sharp lemony-citrus opening with a distinctly grassy, green herbaceous character. Java-type citronella is richer and more rosy-sweet than the Ceylon type, with a fuller geraniol/citronellal profile that gives a slightly waxy floral undertone before drying down to a soft green residue.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Java-type Citronella Oil is almost colorless or pale yellow.

Odor

The odor of Java-type citronella oil is fresh and sweet, revealing the high content of citronellal and geraniol + citronellol. The dryout of the Java-type oil is also sweet, but somewhat woody; this is probably due to the sesquiterpenes and sesquiterpene alcohols.

Uses in perfumery

Java-type citronella oil finds extensive use in perfumery, both directly and indirectly. Soaps, soapflakes, detergents, household cleansers, technical products, insecticides, etc. are often perfumed exclusively with this oil.

Production

Java-type oil is distilled either from fresh grass or from partly dried grass.
