A dry, earthy mossy note with a distinctive forest-floor character — damp bark, lichen, and green woodiness. The co-distillate form is smoother and less phenolic than crude oakmoss absolute, retaining the signature chypre backbone with a softer, cleaner facet.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Oakmoss Absolute Co-Distillates are pale yellow or almost colorless, oily or viscous liquids, having various types of oakmoss odor.

Solubility

They are offered with the advantage of great solubility.

Odor

The odor strength also varies according to the amount of odorless solvent left in the distillate.

Uses in perfumery

The co-distillates find application in all kinds of fougères, colognes, chypres, modern blends, aldehydic bases, bouquets, forest notes, tabac perfumes, and men’s fragrances.

Production

Co-distillation of an oakmoss absolute with an odorless, high-boiling solvent, e.g. ethylene glycol, glycerine, isopropyl myristate.

Compliance note. Restriction data is sourced directly from IFRA publications and preserved with its document excerpt. Perfume Foundry is a compliance-support tool — not a substitute for a qualified safety assessor (CPSR / PIF).
