An African basil variant with a sharp, camphoraceous-herbal opening reminiscent of sweet basil but greener and more medicinal. The heart reveals clove-eugenol warmth mixed with a peppery, slightly minty freshness, drying down to a dry aromatic-woody green facet.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

The oil is a yellowish to brownish liquid.

Odor

The oil has a warm and aromatic, spicy-camphoraceous odor, even when the oil is decamphorized.

Uses in perfumery

The oil blends excellently with lavender, lavandin, rosemary, petitgrain, etc. in the old-fashioned Rondeletia perfume type, but the author does not believe in a future for this oil in perfumery.

Production

The essential oil is steam distilled from the overground parts of the flowering plant.
