A rare wild pepper essential oil with a fresh, green-peppery character — more herbaceous and aromatic than black pepper, with a soft woody undertone. Opens sharp and bright with a slightly citrus-terpenic lift, settling into a warm, dry pepper-and-wood note.AI · claude-opus-4-7

Appearance

Oil of Piper Crassipes is a greenish-yellow, somewhat viscous liquid of faint, but fresh-medicinal odor, slightly reminiscent of niaouli oil and with a dryout of a clove-terpene type odor or cedrela odorata type odor.

Odor

The fruits (berries) of Piper Crassipes emit a sweet, cineole-type odor, in contrast to the spicy-warm, aromatic-woody odor of true cubebs.

Uses in perfumery

Oil of Piper Crassipes has no application in perfumery and is not produced regularly on a commercial scale.

Compliance note. Restriction data is sourced directly from IFRA publications and preserved with its document excerpt. Perfume Foundry is a compliance-support tool — not a substitute for a qualified safety assessor (CPSR / PIF).
