Perfume and Flavor Materials of Natural Origin, page 373.
Tansy Oil is a yellowish to orange-olive colored liquid.
It has a warm, almost sharp and spicy, dry and herbaceous odor.
The taste is very sharp, pungent and bitter at high concentrations.
Tansy Oil can add interesting notes to perfumes of the fantasy type, chypres, fougéres, etc. where it may appear as a topnote of good tenacity and original effect.
Due to the high content of Thujone (a toxic ketone) in the oil, it should not be used in flavors or any food preparations.
Restricted IFRA-standard materials typically present in this NCS at the listed concentrations.
