Slightly soluble in hot water. Slightly soluble in alcohol and oils.
Very faint, sweet, nondescript odor.
Suggested for use (and actually used) in imitation Butter flavors, Butterscotch, Fruit, Liquor, Vanilla, etc. and in imitation Rum flavors.
This chemical is used mainly in beverages (at concentrations about 5 ppm), but the actual extension of use is very small.
